Ava: Mommy, look! Ducks!
Mommy: No, Ava, those are buzzards.
Lily: What are buzzards?
Mommy: They are a kind of bird.
Lily: Oh, are they ducks that buzz?

Conversation with Lily

L: Mommy, are shooting stars real?
M: Yeah, Lily, shooting stars are real.
L: Some day can I wish on a shooting star?
M: Sure, Lily, if you ever see a shooting star you can wish on it. What would you wish for?
L: Hmmmm...I would wish to be a princess forever and ever.
M: That's a good wish, Lily.
L: What would you wish for, Mommy?
M: Hmmm...I don't know. I already have everything I want. I have you and Ava and Emma and Daddy.
L: How about you wish for a better house?
M: Well, Lily, I like our house. I don't need a better one.
L: Well, you could wish for a pink house.

Stinky Mood

There is a commercial on TV right now for Glad trash bags. The catch phrase is "Don't get mad, get Glad!" Well, Ava saw the commercial today and took to that phrase. She walked around repeating it over and over all cute and happy. Lily, however, who is in a stinky mood today, took the phrase and made it her own, "Don't get glad, get mad!" :( Hope she has an attitude adjustment soon!

Lilyisims

While "cooking" in her play kitchen, Lily: "Ava, you have to try this! It tastes just like water!"

Lily: "I think I will change my mind soon. Now, I am bigger, I can change my mind."

Conversation

Daddy to Ava after she was a good girl and used the potty: Ava, are you a pee-pee princess?
Lily (from another room): No, Daddy, princesses don't go potty!
Daddy: Well, how do they go pee-pee?
Lily: They don't!

Chatter Boxes

Ava is finally speaking well enough with a big enough vocabulary that she and Lily will have little conversations. Every once and awhile I am able to actually listen to the chatter going on between them. Right now, Lily is trying her hardest to convince Ava she is a boy. Here's a little snip-it:

L: You're a boy!
A: No, I Ava!
L: You're Ava Boy!
A: Ava Boy? I Ava Boy? No, I Ava Girl!
L: You're Ava Boy Girl!
A: Ava Boy Girl?

We'll see how confused Ava emerges from this little exchange :)

My Little Bride

We are watching TLC's "Say Yes to the Dress." If you have never seen this show, it is all about brides buying their wedding dresses. Well, Lily is watching it with me and planning her wedding! She saw this one dress that was really pretty and she really liked. It had all the beading and the train and she said she wanted a dress just like it when she gets married. Then, they showed pictures of the bride at the wedding. It was an outside wedding and Lily decided, "I want an outside wedding, not and inside one." And then, "I need to marry someone who's my friend. Maybe, Benjamin." What a nut! "And, he has to wear a bow." As in bow tie. Silly girl! Then, she started planning Ava's wedding. She ran into a problem with who Ava would marry because we don't know very many boys Ava's age, so she decided she should marry our old friend Joshua, who we have not seen in at least six months! Oh my goodness. What am I gonna do with this one?

**Oh, also while watching this show a commercial came on for one of the "little people" shows on TLC and Lily asked me how there were little grown ups. Oh my...**

Conversations with Lily

While watching a movie where the lead kid (reindeer, technically, but whatever) was dealing with the consequences of not listening to his parents: "I always listen to you, Momma. Sometimes."

While talking about what we should get Daddy for Christmas: "Let's get him a robot! Boys love robots!"

Where does she get this stuff???

Lily, Lily, Lily

"Daddy, sometimes I pretend my toothbrush is married...to another toothbrush."

Ahhh, Lily...

Lily is going through this stage (at least, I hope it's just a stage) where she only wants to wear dresses. So, this morning I picked out clothes for her and had the audacity to try to get her to wear a t-shirt and a skirt. Now, I did not pick out some icky old t-shirt. It was a fairly new t-shirt, purple, with a mermaid with pink sparkly hair on the front! Lily looks down on the shirt after she has it on, glares at the pink sparkly hair and says, "But, it's not even pretty!" Lily 1 (more like 100,783), Mom 0. I let her pick a dress...

Mother's Day Interview with Lily

I saw this and thought it would be fun to do with Lily. The bold parts are the questions I asked her and the not bold ones are her answers. Here it is:

My Mom

I really love it when my mom gets me some games and my movie comes on. (???)

My mom likes to wear clothes.

My mom always tells me, “No, no. and to say 'Yes, Mommy.'"(Niiiiice)

The best thing she does is give me some ice cream.

It makes her happy when when I be a good girl. (Can you tell what we've been talking A LOT about lately?)

My mom loves to relax by by getting hugs.

I like it when she plays.

The best thing she cooks is pizza. (Funny, because this actually the thing that Daddy, always cooks.)

When my mom shops she likes to buy clothes. (Um, for her, maybe.)

My mom’s favorite household chore is cleaning up.

My mom’s favorite TV show is Mommy shows.

If she could go on a trip, she would go to Africa.

I love my mom because I love you.

Ah, Lily

Well, it is nap time and I have been sitting here checking up on some of my favorite blogs. About 10 minutes ago I started hearing all this knocking and tapping...kind of like a little girl who is supposed to be resting in my bedroom was up and knocking on the walls. So, I go in there all ready to get on her case and she is sitting sweetly in my bed looking at a book. It was about this time I realized the knocking is coming from the other side of the wall in my bathroom (our walls here are like paper). So, I asked Lily if she heard it. She said yes. So, I asked her what she thought they were doing. To which she replied, very seriously, "I think they are trying to get in here and take our water balloons." Hehe, yes, here in Gainesville, we have to be on the look out for those darn water balloon theives who will break intoyour house via your bathroom wall!

Ahhh...Lily....

Tonight, Lily told me that when she sees Baby Jesus she's going to go, "Goochie, goochie, goo. Goochie, goochie, goo." When she said it, she tickled my chin like you would do to a little baby. Gosh, that kid cracks me up!

Conversations with Lily

In the car yesterday, we were talking about how Olivia the pig can talk in her show, but pigs cannot talk in real life. That was then followed by this conversation:

L: Mommy, fish can talk in movies.
M: Yep, Lily, they can, but not in real life, right?
L: Well, fish will be able to talk when our world becomes a movie.

Where does she get this from? "Our world"? Really?

Ahh...My Silly Daughter

So, Nate made fish for dinner tonight. He has been teaching Lily about different kinds of fish and showing her pictures on-line and she can even identify a few of them just by looking at them. Anyhow, here is the conversation that took place over dinner tonight:

N: Lily, have you eaten any of the fish I made just for you?
L: I don't want fish...
N: But, Lily, it's yummy trout!
L: I don't like trout...
N: Yes, you do. It's yummy.
L: But, I don't want trout! I want red fish!
