Not Gonna Survive...

Ava: When are you gonna put me in my bath?
Me: In just a few minutes. Be patient, you'll survive.
Ava (sounding very strained and pitiful): No, I not gonna survive.

I know I post about her a lot, but she is just such a nut. She keeps me laughing :)

"Hate"

So, I can't remember if I have mentioned it on here or not, but Ava has a "Emmie Voice" she uses to talk for Emma. It's very high pitched and funny sounding. Also, hate is a bad word in out house. The kids are not allowed to say it at all. So, here is a conversation that took place this morning:

Ava in her "Emmie voice": "I hate parties."
Then, she turns to me and says: "Mommy, Emmie said hate!

It was so funny because she really seemed shocked that Emma would say such a thing! Too silly!

Ava: Daddy, can I have dessert?
Nathan: You already had an ice cream sandwich for dessert.
Ava: No, that was just a snack!

Stinky Mood

There is a commercial on TV right now for Glad trash bags. The catch phrase is "Don't get mad, get Glad!" Well, Ava saw the commercial today and took to that phrase. She walked around repeating it over and over all cute and happy. Lily, however, who is in a stinky mood today, took the phrase and made it her own, "Don't get glad, get mad!" :( Hope she has an attitude adjustment soon!

Chatter Boxes

Ava is finally speaking well enough with a big enough vocabulary that she and Lily will have little conversations. Every once and awhile I am able to actually listen to the chatter going on between them. Right now, Lily is trying her hardest to convince Ava she is a boy. Here's a little snip-it:

L: You're a boy!
A: No, I Ava!
L: You're Ava Boy!
A: Ava Boy? I Ava Boy? No, I Ava Girl!
L: You're Ava Boy Girl!
A: Ava Boy Girl?

We'll see how confused Ava emerges from this little exchange :)

Conversations with Ava

Wow, can't believe that she's old enough to be having "conversations."

Today, at MOPS, I had my hands full of bags and we needed to go upstairs, so we decided to take the elevator. Lily pressed the button and we got in. Ava, however, was taking her sweet time walking to the elevator, so, I said, "Come on, Ava. Get in the elevator." Then, she stopped right where she stood and with this absolutely petrified look said, "NO! ALLIGATORS!" Huh? Ohhhh...elevator, alligators. I guess when you're 20 months old, they can kind of sound the same. "No, Ava not alligators, elevator." I tried, in vain, to convince her that there were no alligators, but still had to drag her kicking and screaming into the elevator.
